Mark Rittenberg

For more than 20 years, Dr. Rittenberg has helped organizations create communities of excellence and empowered individuals to become true leaders through the power of communication. Dr. Rittenberg believes that corporate problems can be addressed through the Active Communicating methodology he developed, which draws upon the actor's discipline of engaging, creative and effective communication.

Dr. Rittenberg's experience extends around the word and across diverse cultures and industries. In the 1970's and 1980's, he used theater-based exercises to build cultural bridges and develop mutual respect between Israeli and Palestinian students. Based on this work, Dr. Rittenberg in 1994 was awarded the J. William Fulbright Senior Scholar Award to travel to post-apartheid South Africa and rebuild self-esteem and confidence in black communities. In 1999, he returned Israel and applied his cultural conflict resolution experience in Middle East peace initiatives with the Young Leaders Network.

Major corporations and institutions around the world have benefited from Dr. Rittenberg's experience in assessing organizational culture and developing strategies for addressing the root of workplace problems. He has served as a guest faculty member at Harvard University and Lesley College, and he currently teaches expressive communication and presentation in executive education programs at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, the Haas School of Business at the University of California-Berkeley and the University of San Francisco.

Dr. Rittenberg holds a Doctorate in International and Multicultural Education from the University of San Francisco, an M.A. in Education from San Francisco State University and a B.A in Education and Social Work from the University of California-Berkeley.
