Normi Noel

Normi Noel has worked in communication industry for the last 25 years as a consultant, theatre director, actor and voice coach. She is a facilitator for Corporate Scenes, Inc., working most recently on the team consulting Deustche Bank. She also has worked with McKinsey (New York) and Merc Pharmaceuticals (Washington).

Noel was an assistant professor of voice at Boston University for six years, and she has served on the faculty at MIT, New York University, Smith College, Bard College, and Emerson College. She has created workshops for The Bunting Institute at Harvard University, Babson College and SUNY-Albany.

Noel works as a director, actor and playwright, and has been a member of Shakespeare & Company since 1979. Trained by the nation's foremost voice teacher, Kristin Linklater, Noel has done extensive coaching with two recent Broadway plays for The Araca Group. She won the 2005 Sony Award for best Radio Play in the United Kingdom for her production about Vietnam Veteran Army nurses, performed by Sigourney Weaver (BBC).

Noel joined groundbreaking psychologist Carol Gilligan ('In A Different Voice') as a consultant on a three-year study of girls' voices at Harvard University, called "Strengthening Healthy Resistance in Girls and Women" (Cover Story, NYT Sunday Magazine, January 1993). She and Gilligan went on to create "The Summer Project" about teen mothers (made into a documentary, narrated by Jane Fonda). Noel has also been a consultant for Gilligan on her play adaptation of "The Scarlet Letter."

Ms. Noel studied English Literature at the University of Alberta for three years and at NYU School for the Arts for one semester. She received her certificat des etrangeres at the Universite de Caen, studied voice and acting at the Banff Centre, and is a designated Linklater Voice Teacher.
